Juneteenth Santa Barbara

Juneteenth Santa Barbara is an annual event, where we bring community members together to celebrate the freedom of enslaved African Americans in the United States. Two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed, enslaved Black people in Galveston, Texas were informed of their freedom and immediately danced in the streets. Today we honor our ancestors and celebrate our freedom, showcasing black joy and culture in Santa Barbara, California.

Our 2022 community event themed ‘Caring for the People’ also honors local Black artists & artisans, performers, and organizations as well as providing free food, dancing, and singing.

Join us on Sunday, June 19th in historically Black Santa Barbara for the free block party - 200 block of Gray Ave, between e. Montecito Street & E. Yanonali Street - in front of our community partner Shaloob’s Funk Zone Patio.

Project Isla Vista Love

Project IV Love was created in response of the May 23, 2014 tragedy in Isla Vista. Being an alumni and Santa Barbara community member I felt something had to be done and built a grass roots campaign that helped raise $50,000 to build Isla Vista Love and Remembrance Garden in Isla Vista, California. Produced website, graphics and publications pushed through social media campaigns. Brought the community together through planting days, memorial bench design contest, and community garden completion.
